weight benches

This is a nice dumbbell rack for individuals with limited space. The rack measures 14.96 in. L x 12.6 in. W x 26.18 in. H. I'm not much of a weightlifter, but I wanted something to get my neoprene dumbbells off the floor. This rack requires some assembly. All of the bolts, nuts, and washers were included in the package. I started to assemble it by myself, but I eventually needed my boyfriend's help to tighten the nuts. It took us about 20 minutes. It appears to be made out of steel and seems to be very durable. I've posted a picture above to give you an idea of the size of the rack. I was also amazed at how they were able to package the rack in such a small box. I was expecting a big parcel, but it was actually shipped in a narrow box. I think the total shipping weight was about 8 lbs.

One thing I have noticed is that this rack has a strong odor, possibly from the rubber guards. I'm not sure what it's from, but it is quite powerful and noxious. Other reviewers... Read more

When I bought it, I was particularly sensitive to the risk of an unpleasant odor, having read several earlier reviews talking about how bad it stunk. They were right. It did stink. After putting it together, I put is outside in the sun to let it air out. I left it outside about six or seven hours. After that I brought it back in and I haven't smelled it since. It's sturdy, cheap, and holds the dumbbells. I am perfectly satisfied with the purchase.

The package arrived a couple of days ago. It was tightly wrapped in lightweight plastic. My 7 year old son asked why it smelled like a campfire. When we opened it up, the reason was apparent. This thing stinks. It stinks so much it the smell comes through the box, and obviously someone knows this, and that is why they wrapped it in plastic (Twin Peaks, anyone?). Even this didn't stop the smell. My son was unable to help me put it together, but I just ignored the smell while I assembled it. Pretty easy assembly if you have any mechanical ability at all. They include an Allen wrench, and you'll need a pair of pliers, wrench or ratchet for the bolt side of the connectors. Now that it is together, I like the way it looks, and it is very sturdy, but it's going to live in the garage until the smell goes away.

BTW, one of the long bolts had a deformed head. I called them up, and they sent out a replacement.
